The Caves are newly excavated. The wood is still there that holds up everything. Mario, Kirby, Link, Yoshi, and Pit went through here as a shortcut to King Dedede, who had Peach/Zelda, Luigi, and Ness as trophies. It had turned out that Bowser had stolen the trophies and left.
