Why do you think swearing is bad?

I know most of you think it's bad, but I don't get offended by it nor does it actually bother me at all. Why are those words so 'bad' to say? If I and everyone else would say something else instead of the f-word wouldn't that eventually be a bad word? Since it would have a new meaning.

If you're religious, why is it okay to use 'Jesus', 'God', 'OMG', etc. like people do here, but it's not okay do say the f-word? What made it a bad word? It's certainly nothing bad to DO because without it you nor I would exist.

In an objective point of view; how can it be alright to insult or mock people (1, 2) whilst it's not alright to use certain words?

How can it be okay to use National Socialistic references (1) when you cannot use the c-word?

PS. I'm not here to offend, and I won't swear here. Some of you seem to be quite offended by those words.

I can't really think of a reason for most of the things in your post, so I guess I'll just try to improvise.

Just because some people do not get offended by certain words doesn't mean that EVERYONE doesn't get offened. 1/3 of the people who join fourms are kids.

Not all words become swear words if they're filters for words like damn, the commonly used s-word and things relative to that.

Words related to religons like "Jesus" shouldn't actually be used, but it's the fault of the person who uses it I suppose. Words like "God" or "OMG" are alright to use if their meant to be other terms, like a surprised or irritated "Oh my god" response. I don't know what MADE the f-word a bad word, but most people like teachers and parents consider it to be rude and vulgar.

Would that be an acurate response or not? I don't have much time to think, what with so many annoyances on my side.

To be honest, I don't think its really necessary. It's a forum about Video Games, so why do we need to curse? There's already enough cursing in the real world, so why do we need to put it in here? Its pointless, really, in my opinion, to curse. Not to mention, its rude and vulgar, as GBA. Also, I think its fairly annoying.

Basically I explain that people are being offended by a lot of different things - so why put so much attention on swearing, why is that more bad than other things? Which might actually be just as offending to some.

Yeah, and we would be bad role models if we were swearing, all because the norm says so. But then back to my question; why is swearing originally bad? Do you know? Do kids know? I didn't say all words. If ALL people would use 'bleh' (or whatever) instead of some horrible swearword it would receive a new meaning and people would get offended by that too. Old words get new meanings as our race grow, and new words are also invented -- and now I'm not just talking about the forbidden taboo words. For example the word 'own' has a new meaning (I know this is irrelevant to the discussion but it's just to make an example that meanings of words change).

Yes, and I think the former of these two is the worse. Hurting someone mentally might really get to someone while just cursing doesn't really mean much*. Have you ever watched American Idol, people cry there and the judges don't curse they just tell how horrible the person is.

That's not for me to decide, but as I said: 'bad' words doesn't bother me. Swearwords are all about how people interpret them.
There is no way to objectively look at it, though some people might think otherwise.

By saying "It IS rude and vulgar", I mean at its offensive to certain people. Just because you don't care about curses doesn't mean other people don't.

I don't really have a problem with what some consider vulgar and offensive, but I learned that most everyone else does and its easier just to let them have their way than fight with them over it.

And I have no clue where the concept of vulgar words came from, nor do I know why some words are considered evil and not to be said.
