Anime

Well, let's talk about anime seriously in this topic - that's why I'm starting a new one. What you can do here is maybe to talk about it and say why you like it (if you do) or why you hate it (if you do that). Also maybe you can list some of your favorite series or movies here, so others who like anime will know about them.

If you're going to say that you hate it because of all "yucky stuff that happens to Japanese school girls in anime" (don't say that you, Chinese Myth Dragon meant that - I'm just making an example) you're being really IGNORANT and you haven't watched any good nor serious animes with a real plot.



Why I like anime/manga is because of the art style and most artists who draw manga tend to draw extremely well detailed and beautiful pieces of art.
Below are currently my 3 favorite fully complete series (not in any specific order);
Name ~ 7 Genres

• Full Metal Alchemist ~ Action, Adventure, Brother Brother Relationship, Comedy, Magic, Martial Arts, Tragedy.
  
• Rurouni Kenshin - Reminiscence ~ Action, Drama, Horror, Love-Romance, Martial Arts, Violence, War.
  
• Death Note ~ Adventure, Crime, Death, Fantasy, Horror, Mystery, Playing God.

Next is my list of my currently 3 favorite anime movies (this was a really hard one, also not listed in any specific order);
Name ~ 7 Genres

• Grave of the Fireflies ~ Animation, Drama, Homeless, Horrors Of War, Innocence, Tragedy, War.
  
• Spirited Away ~ Adventure, Family, Fantasy, Greed, Magic, Parallel World, Surreal.
  
• Princess Mononoke ~ Action, Adventure, Drama, Fable, Fantasy, Thriller, Violence.

Why I choose these series and movies? Well, to keep it short and to put it simply, I choose these animes because of their well though stories and because of their artwork.

I think Trigun & Full Metal Alchemist are the only two series that I ever seriously got interested in and everything else that I have seen was kinda "meh"

Also I think the style is extremely overrated

Yeah maybe you're right, maybe it is overrated. But I don't like it because others do (why should I?). I like it because it really does look good - and that's what really matters, people can think and say whatever they want to; but as long as I like it, why should I care?

Yeah Trigun is awesome. Science fiction westerns ftw.

I wish there was an anime that is based from either the Simpsons, Family Guy, or perhaps other family sitcoms.

The anime comedy sitcom would involve a family, mainly a father, a mother, two brothers and a sister, and their talking cat, like any other mascot. Each episode has a plot. Not a major plot, but a plot that involves a subject depending on an episode.

I like fullmetal alchemist,Naruto,Negima and like 3 billion more series..

Only old Pokemon. The new ones killed it.

Yeah that would maybe be cool, but I read a good point that contradicts this (don't remember where); if it were to be produced in Japan, people outside wouldn't get all of the jokes and such because of cultural differences - and that would suck.

Hehe, but Naruto isn't complete so you can't rate it yet - maybe it starts to suck so much the series will get canceled. I sure hope not though, because I like the series so far (even though they're taking it reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaally slow since they don't want to get too close to the mangas).

Oh. I remember I liked the Pokémon series, but I watched it a long time ago (I think it's about ..7-8(whoa) years now, so I didn't watch it for too long).

Well..Uh...I watched all 220 episodes of the normal Naruto..Shippuden sux.

OK, hehe. But you know that there only are 135 episodes of the first series, right? Because all episodes after (136-220) are fillers that don't follow the mangas (85 episodes, 624 days of fillers which is almost 1 year and 9 months ..yay).
