Scratch: Hey! What's that over there?!

*There is the Crystal Mushroom on the stand. Whoever possess it will gain the power to grow into the size of a Sky Scraper.*

Dr. Eggman: Whatever it is, go get it!

*Scratch and Grounder does so.*

*Scratch grows into a size of a sasquatch*

Scratch: WHOA!! I think this mushroom does something to me!

Dr. Eggman: Well, go destroy buildings and such while I think of a plan.

*Scratch and Grounder does so.*

Grounder: Thought of anything yet?

Dr. Eggman: Nope.

Scratch: How about now?

*Eggman's "Time Phone" is ringing.*

Dr. Eggman: I didn't know I had one, but...
Dr. Eggman picks up the phone.

Coconuts: *Time Phone* I finally caught Sonic! Does that mean I got my promotion?!

Dr. Eggman: WHAT?! Where are you?

Coconuts: I'm on my way to the empire.

Dr. Eggman: We'll meet you there.

Coconuts: OK! *hangs up*

Scratch: I bet that was Coconuts who is bragging about the sanitation duty, eh?

Grounder: Boy, he just complains all the time.

Dr. Eggman: No. He captured Sonic.
Dr. Eggman heads back through the portal.

Scratch: HE DID WHAT?!

Grounder: Hey no fair! O_O; We was going to get him first.

Scratch: Great. Our promotion is gone, thanks to that chimpy little chump. *enters through the portal with Grounder.*

Two years in the past, Toad Town has just been over run by Shadows controlled by E. Nigma, who has just taken Princess Peach captive and plans to use her as a sacrifice to summon Chaos. LWB, Merloco, and Paint Pup arrive in Toad Town and hide behind a building to avoid being detected by the Shadows.

LWB: Darn it! This place is crawling with Shadows! There's no way we can just walk up to the castle and save the Princess!

Merloco: *Searches through Tattle Log.* It says here that a long time ago, there was a secret entrence in the sewers which lead to the castle's basement. If we can find the entrance, that should make our job much easier.

Meanwhile, in Princess Peach's Castle, E. Nigma is setting up the sacrificial altar in the throne room while a bunch of Shadows tie up Princess Peach with rope and tie the rope onto a chandelier.

E. Nigma: Soon, my dear princess, you will be one with the great being Chaos and it shall cast this miserable realm into darkness.

Past Peach: You'll never get away with this!

*Past Mario and Past Luigi barges in*

Past Mario: What do you think you're doing!?! Let the princess go!!

E. Nigma: When will you pesky plumbers just learn your place!?!? SHADOWS, DESTROY OF THEM!!!

A large group of Shadows charge towards Mario and Luigi.

*Past Mario and Luigi stomps on the Shadows.*

Two Shadows quickly grab hold of Mario and Luigi by their ankles and slam them onto the ground.

Meanwhile...

LWB, Merloco, and Paint Pup run from building to building, avoiding detection. LWB sees the pipe leading to the sewers, but it's being guarded by two Malivios.

LWB: Great, now what?

Merloco sees a rock on the ground, picks it up, and throws it a few feet away from the Malivios. The Malivios sink into the shadows and dart over to where the rock landed, allowing LWB's group to jump into the pipe.

*Past Peach struggles to get free.*

Past Alex enters the topic, a large burn mark on his right shoulder, and enters Toad Town. He wants to get to Peach's castle for medical attention (and to inform her of something), but notices the door is heavily guarded, so he thinks of another way, leaping onto the roof and heading for the chimney. Meanwhile, several Past Death Ninjas toss shuriken at Past Mario and Luigi from behind.
