The Floating Island (Cave Story)

Merloco thinks he found something... a strangely shaped, yellow rock.

One of the bats observes, trying to figure out if it should take the rock.

Merloco: This looks like... a thunderbolt? Hmm... *Sits down and starts to search through his Tattle Log while holding the stone out... for some reason.*

The bat swoops out of the shadows, grabs the rock, and flies away with it.

Merloco quickly looks at his bare palm.

Merloco: ... Darn, I had that coming.

Merloco stands up, put the Tattle Log up, and runs after the bat.

Merloco: Give that back!

The bat continues flying away from Merloco.

Merloco: Stupid flying rats...

Merloco pulls out his Star Wand and tries to blast the bat with a fireball.

A Power Critter flies in the way and prevents the fireball from hitting the bat.

Merloco: What the heck!?

The bat flies into the shadows with its precious cargo.

Merloco: Darn it!

Merloco raises his wand and a light emanates from it. Merloco starts to walk through the shadows.

The light reveals several bats, who, upon being revealed, fly around in panic around Merloco.

Merloco burns the bats with Firedome.

The bats all die.

Merloco: Now then... *Looks around for the stone carrying bat.*

The stone from earlier is lying on the ground.

Merloco: Good. *Picks up the stone and puts it up.* Now to get back on track. *Heads back the other way.*

Meanwhile, the members of the White Platoon have no luck finding any trace of Balrog or Misery.

Of course, neither do my other two characters. Merloco walks into the center of town and waits for the others.

The White Platoon also go to the center of town.

Along with Julius and Yoko.

Merloco: Anything?

Julius and Yoko shake their heads no.

The White Platoon do the same.

Merloco: Darn it! I saw them land here! *Sigh.*

Alex: Maybe they just wanted us to go here to keep us away from their real lair.
The White Platoon turns to Alex, surprised he said something smart.

Merloco: So that means this was pointless. I can't believe I fell for it!
