The Floating Island (Cave Story)

Merloco continues to jump from one platform to another.

Alex hacks his way through the skeletons, who lunge at him and throw bones at him. Alex rather easily dodges. The skeleton heads being held by parrots throw bones at Merloco.

Merloco uses his wand to deflect the bones being thrown and blasts the parrots with Flamethrow.

The parrots that don't dodge get roasted as Alex gets a clear path to the puppy and makes a break for it.

Merloco blasts the remaining parrots with Lightning Storm.

These parrots also drop the skeletons. Alex eventually gets to the puppy, which leaps onto him and licks his face.

Merloco: He's got it! Lets get out of here!

Merloco starts jumping back.

The puppy leaps onto Alex's head as Alex turns into Dark Alex and flies over the skeleton army and the rest of the White Platoon run away.

Julius, Yoko, and Merloco run back down the path. Meanwhile, a strange, round object hovers into the topic and starts to search the island.

The White Platoon gets back to Jenka's shack as Alex turns back to normal and knocks.
Jenka: Are you a monster?
Alex: Lady, we're here with your puppy!
Jenka opens the door as the White Platoon goes in.

Merloco and Yoko enter again, while Julius stays outside again.

The puppy leaps off Alex's head and goes next to the other puppy.
Jenka: Thank you for helping an old lady retrieve her puppies, but there are three more.
Alex: Hold it, grandma. We're not going to retrieve any more of your stupid puppies until you tell us what you meant by "Misery wouldn't do this willingly".

Merloco and Yoko (lulz) cross their arms and wait for a response.

Jenka: Have you heard the story of the Doctor? He came to this place once, and with a powerful artifact he found, took over with Misery and Balrog's help. He wanted to use this island as a base while sending Mimiga soldiers to the surface to take over. He was thwarted, and the island nearly crashed into the planet...

Merloco: Alex, do you think Morbul is trying to find this artifact so that he can crash the island?

Jenka: It's not the artifact that control's the island...
Alex: So what is?
Jenka: ... You know, I still have three puppies out there.
Alex, in exasperation, leaves the shack, the White Platoon following.

*Meanwhile, Minnig Mimigas are digging up something new.*

Along with Merloco and Yoko.

Julius: On to the paths.

My characters head back to the five paths.

Alex goes down the second path, the White Platoon following.

My characters follow. Meanwhile, the object finds the group and starts taking pictures of them.

Down the path is a puppy strapped to an electric chair, an electrified glass box containing a large blunderbuss, and a box with two levers on it between the two.
Point Man: Who straps a puppy to an electric chair?
Dr. Y: Doesn't matter who did it. We should figure out which of the levers turns off the box and frees the puppy and which lever fries them both.

Merloco: If only Merlogic were here...

Dr. Y: Now, it's probably the right lever, closest to the gun...
John: No, that would make too much sense. The people who installed this thing made it to trick us, so it's the one on the left.
Dr. Y: But if they did that, someone might not know how to operate it and shock the puppy. It has to be the one on the right.
Alex: Guys, I have an ide...
John: That's great. Now please be quiet. Anyway, they must teach themselves which lever it is until it's lodged in their brain, so it's probably the one on the left.
Dr. Y: By that logic, it could also be the one on the right.
Alex: I really think you should...
Dr. Y: Now's not the time. Now is the time for the smart people to think.
Alex smacks his forehead and sighs.

Merloco: What is it Alex?

Alex: It's simple. Just...
Dr. Y: You're really not helping.
While John and Dr. Y continue debating, Alex goes over to the electric chair.
