The Floating Island (Cave Story)

Merloco: ... What do you mean by that?

Kazuma: If the Demon Crown gets destroyed, it will respawn in twenty-four hours.

Merloco: Wouldn't the curse be broken though?

Kazuma: Yes. Misery and Balrog would be free until someone else found and put on the Demon Crown.

Merloco: Great, so after we destroy the crown, we would need to retrieve it after it reappears and keep it hidden.

Kazuma: Apparently.

Merloco: Great, now that we got that part planned out, lets go.

The White Platoon heads for the temple in the Sand Zone.

Merloco, Julius, and Yoko follow.

Meanwhile, Aya is cleaning her pistol and counting her ammunition.

The path is strangely free of enemies, so it doesn't take long for the White Platoon to arrive outside the temple. The ogres are surprisingly fast workers, so they're making progress on the Morbul statues.

Yoko looks for a way around the ogres, but sees Aya.

Yoko: Aya? Is that you?

Aya: Guys! I've been waiting for you all! *Counts the members.* ... Where is Alex and LWB?

Merloco: They are dead...

Aya: ... What?

John: LWB was accidentally stabbed by this bunny thing who got tripped by his archenemy, and Alex was drowned by Misery.

Aya: ...

Aya looks at the groundand shakes her head in disbelief. She then breathes in deeply and looks back up.

Aya: Then we have no time to waste...

Julius: Arikado sent you here through a teleporter, didn't he?

Aya: Actually, a living doll named Patches did that.

There is an awkward moment of silence as Dr. Y and various other White Platoon members look at Aya either in disbelief or thinking that she's gone crazy.

Aya: It's true! You can ask Arikado.

Julius pulls out his cellphone and calls Arikado.

Dr. Y: There's no need for that. If there was a doll named Patches in our base, I would know, and I've never seen a doll named Patches.

Julius: *Holds hand up at Dr. Y.* Arikado, it's Julius. Aya is here with us and she mentions something about a living doll...

Julius: Wait, you're saying a doll worked the teleporter?

Aya: Told you!

Dr. Y: That's definately wierd...

Julius: What is it Arikado?

Julius: Yeah, I heard her.

Aya: What is it?

Julius: Apparently they can't find Patches anywhere in the base.

Dr. Y: *muttered* If she's even in there to begin with...

Julius: Listen, Arikado, we're about to stop Morbul, you're going to have to call later.

Julius: Err, yes, well... just call us back later.

Julius closes his cellphone.

Dr. Y: So, are we done talking about living dolls who may or may not exist?
